"Doek – meaning "Cloth" in Dutch – is a Japanese shoe brand based in Kurume, Fukuoka. Doek's shoes are made almost entirely by hand in a 140-year-old factory, using small batch methods that require highly skilled craftsmanship.
Doek have some interesting features like the natural cork insole which helps with ventilation, and a vulcanized rubber sole made in the traditional way by baking the shoes in small batches in a kiln. Doek are made using specially woven kasuri canvas fabric: a traditional roughly-woven canvas cloth which is woven in Kurume Japan
